Next Stop: Shinnecock

Shinnecock is a beautiful beach located in suffolk county by South Hampton. It is right on the Shinnecock inlet. Many people bring their campers and camp here right on the sand. You can camp either on the ocean or bay side. Many people also fish and go surfing here. You can also go clamming on the bay side. It is a great place to spend the day with family and friends, relax, and to spend a vacation. The drive down to the beach is also a beautiful drive. You get to see many big mansions and some pretty sites. The Shinnecock Indians settled here a long time ago. They have their own reservation still. The water is always beautiful and fun to be in with its big waves. It is always good for boogie boarding. You will have a lot of fun here either for just the day or a couple of days. And if you get sick of the beach which i don't think you will you can always go into South Hampton it is a pretty town with many shops and restaurants, a movie theater, and a pretty park. It is definitely a place you have to go to and spend the day.

First Stop: Robert Moses and Fire Island Lighthouse

The Fire Island Lighthouse was built in 1858. Although this isn't the original it is not far away from the original at all. The original was built in 1826. For a long time, the first evidence of land for travelers crossing the Atlantic Ocean from Europe was the Fire Island Lighthouse. It's light can be seen from 20 miles away. The light house is right next to Robert Moses State Park. The light in the current lighthouse was lit for the first time on November 1, 1858. Robert Moses State Park is also a great place to spend the day. It is a beautiful beach that many can enjoy by taking a walk on the boardwalk, going fishing, surfing, swimming, visiting the lighthouse to take a tower tour, or just relaxing and enjoying yourself. And best of all these are things you can do and enjoy all year long.

So every week I am going to post pictures of things and places on Long Island that i have visited and tell you a little bit about them. I enjoy taking pictures very much so i hope you enjoy this also. I am open to suggestions on places to visit so you may leave your comments here. Thank you and enjoy!
