The Big Duck is located in Flanders. It is out east near Riverhead. In 1931 a local duck farmer named Martin Maurer built this large duck. Since it is hollow inside you can go in. Back then Maurer sold eggs and ducks here. The ducks location has changed a few times. But it has always been in the same general area. The shop is open but instead of selling ducks and eggs it sells duck and long island souvenirs to many. In the wintertime for Christmas they hold a duck lighting where the elementary schools come and sing a few carols as they light the duck.
